A Handling Solution Designed Around Your Application

An industrial manipulator is configured according to the characteristics of the product, the required movements and the available working environment.

Load Characteristics

Weight, dimensions, shape, surface and centre of gravity influence the manipulator and gripping-tool configuration.

Required Movements

The system may be designed around lifting, lowering, rotation, tilting, transfer and precise final positioning.

Working Environment

Available floor space, headroom, structures, obstacles and workstation layout determine the installation arrangement.

What Is an Industrial Manipulator?

An industrial manipulator is an operator-controlled handling system that balances the weight of a load. This allows heavy, repetitive or awkward products to be guided and positioned with substantially less physical effort.

Unlike a fully automated robot, the operator remains directly involved in the handling cycle. The pneumatic system supports the load while the operator controls its movement and final positioning.

1

Assess the Load

Review the weight, dimensions, centre of gravity and product surface.

2

Define the Movement

Establish the lifting, rotation, tilting and positioning requirements.

3

Review the Workspace

Consider the operating radius, headroom, structures, obstacles and workstations.

4

Design the System

Configure the manipulator, mounting arrangement and gripping equipment.

Custom Gripping Systems

The gripping equipment is designed around the item being handled and the movement required during the handling cycle.

Depending on the application, options may include vacuum suction, pneumatic clamps, mechanical grippers, expanding tools, hooks, forks or another purpose-designed attachment.

The manipulator and gripping equipment are developed as one complete handling solution.
